Cadotte Lake, AB
tânisi and tawâw, welcome to Cadotte Lake School!
Cadotte Lake School is operated by the Woodland Cree Education Authority (WCEA), the education governing body of Woodland Cree First Nation #474 on Treaty 8 Territory. The school previously operated under the Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council Education Authority and transitioned to its own Nation-led authority. Located about 45 minutes from the Town of Peace River in northern Alberta, the school serves approximately 215 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 with a staff of over 20.
Cree language, culture, and values are central to the school's programming. Cree is woven into all subject areas from Kindergarten through Grade 12, and the year-round On the Land learning program immerses students in land-based learning that strengthens their connection to their language, culture, and community. Guided by Elders and knowledge keepers, the school blends provincial academic standards with traditional Cree knowledge under its motto, Hope is on the Horizon.
Connected North launched at Cadotte Lake School in September 2017. The program provides two-way virtual learning experiences that link students' community to the wider world, supporting them in building the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive as they grow.

About Cadotte Lake School
Cadotte Lake School places a lot of emphasis on Indigenous culture, values and skills. Cree language is essential to their core programs and is integrated into all subject areas for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The school offers the On the Land learning program year round, in which students are immersed in land-based learning focused on strengthening their ties to their Indigenous languages and cultures.
In September 2017, Connected North was launched in Cadotte Lake School, providing two way connections between educational experiences that interconnect the child’s community and the world at large in order to help children acquire the skills, knowledge and strength to enable them to assume productive roles as adults.
Students love and respond well to hands-on activities, especially building, painting, creating, dancing, singing and movement.
