About Father Megret Elementary School

Father Megret Elementary School operates under the Athabasca Denesųłiné Education Authority and provides education from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5. The school has approximately 25 staff and a student body of over 200. Students receive instruction in English and Dene and engage in cultural activities.

In September 2016, Connected North was launched in Father Megret Elementary School, providing two way connections of educational experiences that interconnect the child’s community and the world at large to help youth attain the skills, knowledge and strength to assume productive roles as adults. The program has been a big hit with students not only having access to educational tools but also having opportunities to proudly showcase their culture and way of life to others.

Students at Father Megret Elementary School tend to be quiet and may have heads down (especially the older students). Please know this is not an indication of not listening. Students love and respond well to hands-on activities, especially building, painting, creating, dancing, singing and movement.
