Tanisi and Welcome to Keethanow Elementary School,
Keethanow Elementary School operates under the Prince Albert Tribal Council and provides education from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6. The school has approximately 45 staff, about 300 students.
Keethanow Elementary School places a lot of emphasis on Indigenous culture, values, skills and pride of the Stanley Mission Cree Nation. Education activities reflecting Cree language are an integral part of approved curricula to provide the educational foundation from which the students can learn to live successfully and happily in society.
The school uses some of the latest technology with many classrooms being equipped with Cisco Telepresence units. In September 2021, Connected North was launched in Keethanow Elementary School, providing two-way connections between educational experiences that interconnect the child’s community and the world at large to help youth attain the skills, knowledge and strength to assume productive roles as adults.

About Keethanow Elementary School


The education of our children is based on the culture, values, skills, and pride of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. Educational activities reflecting Woodland Cree culture and Cree language are to be integrated into the provincial curricula to provide the educational foundation from which the individual student can learn to live successfully and happily in any society. By providing educational experiences that interconnect the child’s community, Cree language, history, and culture, the provincial curricula, and the world at large, our children will acquire the skills, knowledge, and strength to enable them to assume productive roles as adults.


Students love and respond well to hands-on activities, especially building, painting, creating, dancing, singing and movement.
