About Nestor Falls Public School

Nestor Falls is a wonderful and unique little school situated in the middle of Lake of the Woods area. There are 24 students in the K-8 school. 25% of the school population is Indigenous. The students are divided into two classrooms, K-3 and 4-8, however, the students are combined for special activities and events. Ojibwe is the second language taught in the school. The feeling of family is evident at Nestor as any visitor can see the students playing, learning and exploring together.

Students at Nestor Falls are enthusiastic learners. The small groups and classes allow for a higher level of interaction with providers so lots of questions and time for reflection is encouraged. Students love and respond well to hands-on activities, especially building, painting, creating, dancing, singing and movement. They are very talented artists and love their opportunities to create and show off their incredible talents! They are an amazing group of students who appreciate all of the connections they make with individuals throughout the world.

In our region, important seasons and special events are Harvest Week in October, Literacy Week in February and recognizing Orange Shirt Day (now also the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, on September 30th), Pink Shirt Day (February 23rd), and the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People (May 5th). We post regularly on Facebook and welcome you to join and learn about some of the activities at our school's Facebook Page.

Over the years, our students have gone on many trips and have participated in baseball tournaments, track and field as well as carrying on with their much enjoyed Christmas Concerts.

We are all very proud of our ‘little two room school.' It is the only one of its kind left in the district which makes it unique.
We look forward to you connecting with our students to meet and learn with you!
