About Quqshuun Ilihakvik School

Quqshuun Ilihakvik is a kindergarten to grade six school serving the community of Gjoa Haven. We have more than 200 students and are committed to offering them a bilingual education in Inuktitut and English.

At our school, we have three main focuses:

1) to improve our students' attendance

2) to develop our students' Inuktitut skills

3) to raise our students' academic level

Quqshuun Ilihakvik learners are always eager to participate in building, art, movement, and creativity sessions. Unfortunately, most schools in Nunavut have a limited number of rooms where they can host video conference sessions. This means that space can be limited, but with enough notice, accommodations can be made to allow additional space.

The Nattilik Heritage Society (and Centre) located in Gjoa Haven, has a mandate to preserve and promote the culture and heritage of Nattilingmiut. It is also to lead initiatives which generate social, cultural and economic benefit in the community. The Nattilik (Netsilik) Heritage Centre presents an account of the Nattilik people through their stories, images and local Inuit art and craft. The heritage centre will play an important role in strengthening culture and language at the community level, and provide visitors with a better understanding of the unique world of the Nattilik people. https://www.facebook.com/NattilikHeritageCentre/
