Qitiqliq Middle School

Arviat, NU

Qitiqliq Middle School is one of three schools in Arviat, a community of about 2,700 people located near the geographic centre of Canada. Our school has about 190 students from grade six to grade eight. The school works closely with parents, community members and the District Education Authority (DEA) to provide our students with a safe and inclusive learning environment, as well as a bilingual education in both Inuktitut and English.
At Qitikliq Middle School (QMS) the staff strive to create and maintain a safe and respectful place for all students to learn and grow.
Qitiqliq Middle School learners are always eager to participate in building, art, movement, and creativity sessions. Unfortunately, most schools in Nunavut have a limited number of rooms where they can host video conference sessions. This means that space can be limited, but with enough notice, accommodations can be made to allow additional space.
